And that's why a little due diligence was in order regarding character Franklin Armstrong and his initial appearance in Charles M. Schulz' "Peanuts" comic strip.
Sure enough, what I originally saw was in fact true - Franklin did indeed debut on this very day, July 31st, 50 years ago. As a life-long Peanuts fan, I'm happy to report I can still learn something new about one of the comic strips I grew up with.
Happy 50th, Franklin!
